In June 2022, people from more than twenty local churches gathered at Renew Oxford to ask, ‘How can we be good news for the city?’
This June, we look forward to reporting on progress achieved during the last year, and together asking ‘what next?’
The prophet Jeremiah famously called God’s people to “seek the peace (shalom) of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the LORD on its behalf.” We want to continue in that calling today, led and energised by the Spirit of Jesus, the Prince of Peace.
We will enjoy a range of speakers, including Paul Woodman from Love Southampton. Also joining us is Dr Martin Reeves. Martin has recently been appointed as Chief Executive for Oxfordshire County Council. He has a unique vantage point from which to assess the needs and opportunities in our communities and sees that the best future for our city and region will only be realised if people work together towards some shared aspirations.
We will also have 2 brilliant workshops in the afternoon hosted by Carolyn Merry on ‘peaceful relationships’ and Daniel Maughan on ‘peace of mind’. Both have a wealth of experience in their field and are looking forward to sharing their heart with us.
There will be time to forge new connections, and also to pray and worship together.
Tickets cost £20/£10 (concessions), including lunch and refreshments.
We would really love this event to be inclusive so if finance is an issue then please speak to your church community, we trust that they will be quick to support you in attending this amazing event. If you are not part of a church community please do get in touch.
On behalf of all ‘Love Oxford’ churches, this event is hosted by Oxford Community Church.
